Valero clerk shot during attempted robbery on northeast-side, police say

Police say the female clerk pepper-sprayed the suspect, and he then shot her in the arm and pistol-whipped her before fleeing in a black sedan.

SAN ANTONIO — A Valero clerk was shot during an attempted robbery on the northeast side late Sunday night, police say.

It happened at the Valero gas station on the I-35 North Frontage Road near Starlight Terrace.

Police say a man wearing dark-colored clothing walked into the store and tried to rob the clerk at gunpoint.

Officers say the clerk pepper-sprayed the suspect, and he fired his weapon at her, striking her in the arm. The suspect then pistol-whipped the female clerk, before driving off in a black sedan.

The clerk was taken to BAMC and is listed in stable condition.

No word on whether the suspect got away with any money. A description of the suspect was provided by police.
