
The victim collapsed and his belonging were taken from him, police say.
SAN ANTONIO — An 18-year-old man told police he was robbed downtown by a suspect who threw rocks at him early Saturday morning.
San Antonio Police were dispatched to a hospital in the downtown area around 1:45 a.m. for reports of an aggravated robbery in progress.
The victim told officers he was assaulted and then robbed in the 600 block of Soledad near the Central Library. He said the suspect approached him holding some rocks, which he threw, hitting the victim in his head. He collapsed and the suspect took his belongings. He was able to walk to the hospital for medical treatment and called the police.
The victim was able to provide police with a description of the suspect. When police were on their way to the location where the attack occurred, they found a man matching the description provided. Officers tried to make contact with that suspect, but he disregarded police commands and ran off, evading police. After a short chase, the officers had him in custody.
The 19-year-old suspect was identified as the perpetrator of the attack.
He was arrested and booked for evading arrest and robbery of an individual.
