
The wreck happened near the intersection of Fondren and West Bellfort after a police chase that lasted less than two minutes.
HOUSTON — Two people are dead after a suspect fleeing from police crashed into another vehicle in southwest Houston.
Investigators said this incident all started before 8 p.m. when officers noticed a stolen car driving along West Bellfort.
According to the Houston Police Department, officers tried to stop the driver, but he took off and a chase began.
The chase lasted less than two minutes before police said the suspect crashed into another car that was trying to make a U-turn on West Bellfort at Fondren. The driver of the car making a U-turn was ejected and later died from his injuries.

The suspect’s car then hit a light pole and the car caught fire, which the Houston Fire Department managed to put out.
As first responders rushed to help both drivers and get the suspect from his car, police said the suspect pulled a gun from his waistband and shot himself. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
We don’t have the identities of the suspect or the innocent driver who was killed. Police said the suspect was a man in his 20s. The victim was a man in his 40s.
