HOUSTON — Vice President Kamala Harris held a campaign rally in Houston on Friday.

Harris was in town for a big Get Out the Vote rally on Friday that included music superstars Willie Nelson and Beyoncé as well as Tina Knowles.

Campaign officials said about 30,000 people showed up for the rally, their largest crowd to date.

Speakers throughout the night talked about the importance of women’s reproductive rights.

Nelson performed a few songs and Beyoncé and her mother talked about women’s reproductive rights.

The rally was held at Shell Energy Stadium just east of downtown.

Outside of the stadium on Thursday, metal gates and portable toilets were being set up and people started lining up outside of the ticket counters.

Video from Air 11 showed crews setting up stage equipment, lights, and flooring on the grass of the soccer field.

The rally is also expected to boost the campaign of Texas’ Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Rep. Colin Allred, who’s looking to unseat Republican Sen. Ted Cruz.

CBS News has learned that the vice president’s visit to Houston will be centered around reproductive freedom in Texas. She is expected to be joined by men and women directly impacted by the state’s abortion ban, which she believes is one of the top issues for many voters in Texas.

CBS News also learned that Harris is expected to sit down with local podcaster Brené Brown to further discuss this issue.

Both Harris and former President Donald Trump have been spending quite a bit of time in Texas with only 12 days until Election Day. Experts said it’s because Texas is being treated as a battleground state.

Trump held a rally in Austin on Friday and Cruz was there looking to get a boost to his campaign.

While in Austin, Trump sat down for an interview on the Joe Rogan Podcast.

KHOU 11 political analyst Brandon Rottinghaus said it’s rare for presidential candidates to make visits to Texas so late in the campaign.

“The polling tells us this is a close race. The turnout numbers are showing this is definitely competitive, both parties, both candidates really wanna make sure that they close the deal here, that they put enough effort and resources behind this to make sure they’ve done everything they can to make sure their voters come out,” Rottinghaus said.

Harris is expected to stay in Houston until Saturday.
