Walmart and Sam’s Club launch ‘Fight Hunger Spark Change’ campaign in San Antonio

Shoppers in San Antonio can help fight hunger through everyday purchases during a nationwide campaign.

SAN ANTONIO — A nationwide campaign aimed at fighting hunger is now underway, giving San Antonio shoppers a simple way to help families in need.

Walmart and Sam’s Club have launched their 13th annual “Fight Hunger. Spark Change.” campaign, running from April 6 through May 3.

The effort supports Feeding America and local partners like the San Antonio Food Bank, helping provide meals to families facing food insecurity.

Shoppers can participate in several ways, including donating or rounding up at checkout, purchasing specially marked items, or giving directly online.

3 ways to give

  • Donating or rounding up at checkout: Donate at the register in stores or clubs or round up your total on the Walmart app and website.
  • By purchasing participating products**: Look for specially marked items in-store or online. Each purchase helps provide meals to our local food bank from participating brands. 1 item = 1 meal* at Walmart; 1 item = 5 meals at Sam’s Club.
  • Giving directly: Visit Feeding America’s Fight Hunger. Spark Change. campaign donation site at either www.FeedingAmerica.org/Walmart or www.FeedingAmerica.org/SamsClub

Organizers say even small actions can make a big impact.

“Each year, the campaign reminds us that strong communities are built when neighbors support one another,” said Eric Cooper. “The generosity of shoppers helps power our work every single day.”

Since launching in 2014, the campaign has helped generate more than $227 million and provide over 2 billion meals nationwide.

Officials say the need continues to grow, with millions of Americans — including children and working families — experiencing food insecurity.

Community leaders say campaigns like this help bridge the gap and ensure more families have access to the food they need.
