WATCH: Man shot by San Antonio officers after firing gun in their direction, bodycam video released

A 58-year-old man is facing four counts aggravated assault against a public servant after SAPD says he fire shots towards officers during an October burglary.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Police Department has released bodycam footage from an October shooting that involved officers.

Around 10 p.m. on Oct. 17, SAPD responded to a storage facility on the 8700 block of Fredericksburg Road after receiving reports of a burglary in progress.

Upon arrival, officers say they found a man in a storage unit with a gun. The man allegedly began to walk towards the officers before he fired the weapon towards them.

SAPD says an officer returned fire, striking the suspect,

The suspect, identified as 58-year-old Richard Asbell was taken to a local hospital to be treated before he was arrested and charged with four counts of aggravated assault against a public servant.

SAPD said the District Attorney’s Office is reviewing the incident.
