SAN ANTONIO — The options for Spurs fans to catch the team in playoffs mode is expanding as they prepare to tip off against the Thunder in the Western Conference Finals.
Starting with Monday’s Game 1 in Oklahoma City, the team is welcoming the community to catch the action for all away games in the best-of-seven battle at the Frost Bank Center. You will need a ticket, which are being provided for free here, but only 7,900 will be let in for each away game.
The bad news: Frost Bank Center watch parties for Games 1 and 2 are already sold out. Fans who managed to snag one are being encouraged to wear Fiesta colors of Fiesta-themed Spurs gear for Game 1 on Monday, while Wednesday’s Game 2 will have a black-out theme.
For the first time in their playoff run, 2-seed San Antonio won’t have home-court advantage as they face off against the top-seed Thunder, who are also the defending NBA champions and boast the two-time reigning NBA MVP.
After two games on the Thunder’s home floor, the Western Conference Finals will shift to the Alamo City for Games 3 and 4 on Friday and Sunday, respectively. See the full WCF schedule here.
The Rock at La Cantera on the northwest side, which has seen crowds in the thousands for each playoff game, will continue to host free watch parties for every game—home and away. It’s also free to attend at The Rock, but attendance is being limited to 6,000 per game. Those gatherings have featured performances from the Hype Squad, appearances by the Jackals and Spurs Coyote, and even jersey giveaways.
The San Antonio Botanical Garden is also jumping onboard the playoffs excitement, announcing they’ll hold a members-only watch party for Game 1 “on multiple screens throughout the Garden.” Fans are welcome to also bring their own blankets or lawn chairs.
