WATCH: San Antonio Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama plays soccer with fans in Costa Rica

Victor Wembanyama enjoys some soccer with fans in Costa Rica during his offseason.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Spurs‘ Victor Wembanyama is vacationing in Costa Rica and has been getting in some time on the court and the pitch.

If you missed it, Wemby was recently spotted taking shots at the Los Angeles de La Fortuna Sports Center in San Carlos.

He also took his talents to the soccer pitch and played with young athletes who soaked in the opportunity to play with the Spurs All-Star and get some photos and autographs from the big French man.

“We didn’t expect that at all,” posted one Wemby fan. “And yet, in the heart of Costa Rica, we crossed paths with Victor Wembanyama. A totally unlikely moment: a meeting with the greatest (in every sense of the term) French basketball player, in the heart of La Fortuna.”

This is fantastic news considering the All-Star reportedly underwent an operation to correct the deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder, which sidelined him for the remainder of the season. Also, it’s great to see he didn’t get hurt as well, much to the delight of Spurs fans and team staff.

Wemby has been on blood thinners since being sidelined, and surgery is not uncommon to correct thrombosis and the structural issue that is causing it.

Fortunately, the Spurs caught the issue early, and Wemby should fully recover just in time for the start of the 2025-26 season.
