Miyah’s family says she loves social media, but as soon as she left she has not been active on her accounts.
SAN ANTONIO — Monday marks 2 weeks since the family of 16-year-old Miyah Gonzalez reported her missing. Sick with worry they are praying for her return.
Miyah was last seen leaving her grandparents home on Oak Valley Drive on the Southwest side, on August 5th. Her grandfather, Joe Lancaster said they believe she may be with the family of her 19-year-old boyfriend.
“By the time I’m going out the front door, he’s coming in the front door because she’s climbing in the car, and by the time I get outside, they were driving away,” Lancaster said.
Miyah’s family said she is bubbly, into music, drawing, electronics, and loves to be on social media.
“So we figured we’d be able to track that way, but as soon as she left, she cut all her, social media,” Lancaster said.
Lancaster said they are worried, she might be exposed to trafficking.
“She might get put into that that arena, hopefully not. She might get tied up in drugs, hopefully not. We’re just waiting to hear hopefully, or she show back up,” Lancaster said.
Lancaster said he along with Miyah’s father have been searching areas of the city where they believe she might be, but have not been able to find her.
“The father wanted to be here, but he couldn’t work, get out of work, and they’re all besides himself with the situation, hoping she can be found,” he said.
Miyah has dealt with some emotional issues, including the death of her mother, and Lancaster said that stress may be one of the factors adding to her disappearance.
Miyah’s family is asking anyone with information about where she could be to contact police. The family wants her to know they care about her, and just want her home.
“We’re worried about you. We want you to come back. You leaving the way you did was uncalled for. We can discuss the situation and go from there,” Lancaster said.
