The family of 64 year-old Benjamin Regalado is asking for your help in their search for answers into their father’s death.
Regalado’s body was found just weeks after he went missing in March but just last month, his death was ruled a homicide.
Now, there is a new effort by authorities to catch his killer.
“Well it give us some kind of hope, that someone can come forward, and say something,” said Ruby Regalado, Benjamin’s daughter.
The Regalado family has hope this holiday season as they continue searching for answers and justice in his murder.
“It’s difficult knowing that this person is just out there still a threat to other people,” said Angel Regalado, Benjamin’s daughter.
Regalado was reported missing on March 19, after not showing up for work the day before. His family says he was a hard worker and always provided for the family.
“We were always in contact with my dad, no matter what. He was always showing up, calling us. We were always texting, he would always texts us a good night,” said Ruby.
Days after Regalado was reported missing, his family found his car at a nearby motel near San Pedro Avenue. A week later, police discovered his body near Brookview Drive in Olmos Creek.
“I was just screaming, that I didn’t want it to be my dad,” said Ruby.
Regalado’s death was ruled a homicide and the family believes it may have been a robbery.
“He didn’t go around trying to look for trouble. It was someone that did this with malicious intent. The person or persons, they took everything from him. They took his car. They took his jewelry, his watch, his wallet, his money,” said Ruby.
Crime Stoppers is now offering up to a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in Regalado’s murder. While finding the person won’t bring Regalado back, it will give his family some closure this holiday season.
“We don’t want to celebrate, but I have grandbabies, so I have to celebrate for them,” said Laura Serna, Benjamin’s wife.
Regalado’s family says someone out there knows something, and hopes they will come forward.
“We hope that the guilt is just eating away at them, and we hope that they don’t think that they’re going to get away with this, because they’re not,” said Angel.
