SAN ANTONIO — First responders will be continuing to search for a man still missing after Thursday’s floods.
The Burris family is looking for their relative, Derwin Anderson, who they say got caught up in floodwaters near Highway 90 and Leon Creek on the west side.
The family is heartbroken—because no one wants to identify a car their loved one was in, found upside down in the water.
But even after pointing out a submerged vehicle to first responders, they still haven’t been able to find Derwin Anderson.
The San Antonio Fire Department responded to Highway 90 and Leon Creek just after 3 p.m. Thursday, after high water was reported in the area.
Crews said it took a while to clear the vehicle because of the high-water level and fast-moving current.
They had to end the search around 8:45 p.m. that night as conditions grew too dark and unsafe.
Still, the family is desperate for answers.
“We just need to know. We need closure,” Katherine Mennifield Burris said. “We need to know where Derwin is. And if he needs help, we need to know so we can help him.”
Rescue crews are expected to return to the area Friday morning to continue the search. KENS 5 will continue to update this article.
