A gun was found in the backpack of an 11-year-old student at Harris Middle School on Wednesday.
SAN ANTONIO — A weapon was found in the backpack of a middle school student on Wednesday, NEISD says.
A student reported to school authorities that another student may have a weapon on campus. Officials immediately began investigating, identified the student and brought him to the office.
NEISD confirms that a gun was found in the student’s backpack. The 11-year-old student at Harris Middle School told school officials that someone had asked him to hold it and he had nor ill intent, according to Aubrey Chancellor with NEISD.
“Regardless, the student was arrested and charged with having a weapon in a prohibited place,” said NEISD. “We applaud the student who came forward with the information. We will not tolerate dangerous items on our campuses.”
