Wednesday’s Child brothers share unbreakable bond: ‘I want a mom to say, I love you.’

Brothers 7-year-old Samuel and 6-year-old Anthony, both on the autism spectrum, cherish their unbreakable bond while dreaming of a forever family to share their love

ARLINGTON, Texas — The day was all about letting this week’s Wednesday’s Child just be kids — laughing, playing, and forgetting the waiting for a while. What unfolded was a small glimpse into how much these brothers mean to each other and the people rooting for them.

Seven-year-old Samuel and six-year-old Anthony have already learned something many never have to: when the world feels uncertain, family can mean holding tightly to the one person who never lets go.

For nearly three years, the brothers have been in foster care. Through every transition, every new place, and every waiting day, they’ve had one constant — each other.

“I like to play soccer, and my brother Sam like to help each other out,” Anthony said. “We like to play games.”

When asked how his brother feels about him, Samuel spoke from the heart.

“He said he loves me.”

That love was on full display as the boys laughed, played games, and won prizes during a special day at Chuck E. Cheese Adventure World in Arlington. It was a chance to just be kids.

“Super happy,” Samuel said, beaming.

The outing wasn’t just about fun. With the help of their advocates and even Chuck E. Cheese himself, Samuel and Anthony were reminded of how special they are. When asked what his favorite part of the day was, Anthony didn’t hesitate.

“All of it.”

Samuel’s caseworker, Randa Brown, describes him as a joyful presence.

“He is a bubbly, loving little boy,” Brown said. “He loves to talk and tell you about everything.”

Samuel is on the autism spectrum and receives speech therapy at school, where he’s thriving.

“He tells me about how much he likes school and all his friends,” Brown added.

Anthony, also on the spectrum, brings a different kind of energy.

“Anthony’s a little spitfire,” Brown said with a smile. “He loves to let you know what’s going on. He loves to play with cars, play outside, and build stuff.”

But ask Anthony about what makes him happy, and he doesn’t talk about toys or games, he talks about his best buddy. It’s his brother.

“He’s a nice brother to me,” Anthony said. “I bought him a toy he definitely will like.”

When the boys talk about what they want most, their wishes are heartbreakingly simple.

“I want a mom to say, ‘I love you,'” Samuel said.

Asked what he wants to hear from a dad, his answer was just as pure.

“You’re the best son ever.”

Their bond is unbreakable, and their future hope is shared.

“Our goal is to find a family who will take both the boys,” Brown said.

Two brothers. One inseparable bond. And one wish, for a forever family ready to love them both.
