The reason: Heavy rains and localized flooding possible
The breakdown
We’re expecting temperatures seven to eight degrees above seasonal average over the next couple of afternoons as we get into the weekend. There will be a slight drop in humidity in South Texas, which will help the mercury climb into the triple-digits.
Rain chances will return by Saturday, with only isolated showers expected. But on Sunday we’re cranking up chances to 60%, meaning there’s a 60% chance the San Antonio area will see rain.
Tropical moisture is expected to surge across Mexico and drop soaking rains Sunday through Monday in our region.
Day-by-day forecast
Thursday: Low of 72 degrees, high of 101. It may be September, but summer-like conditions are still sticking around in South Texas. Winds remain calm at 5 mph throughout the day and into the evening, which will bring partly cloudy skies.
Friday: Low 74, high 98. Mostly sunny and hot conditions with winds topping 10 mph.
Saturday: Low 75, high 95. Partly sunny conditions with calm winds most of the day until a 20% chance for shoers and thunderstorms moves in late Saturday night.
Sunday: Low 76, high 89. As the mercury dips, the rain chances rise to end the weekend. There’s a 60% chance of rain and possible storms which could bring flooding to parts of the region.
Monday: Low 74, high 88. A 10% chance of afternoon showers and storms.
