‘Wem-ban-yum-yum’ | Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama makes a cameo on ‘Futurama,’ voicing an alien basketball player

Victor Wembanyama made his voice acting debut as a basketball-playing alien in “Futurama’s” season premiere.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Spurs‘ Victor Wembanyama lent his voice to bring to life “Victor Wem-ben-yum-yum,” who is a basketball-playing alien, of course, on the season premiere of “Futurama.”

In his cameo, Wemby (who mentions that his correct name is “Wembanyama” to his fellow animated basketball player, Bubblegum Tate) tries to let the robot Bender understand that height isn’t everything in life, when in reality, it means the world to the Spurs All-Star center.

“Bender, the true measure of a man is not his physical stature,” Wemby says, who then proceeds to laugh in Bender’s face.

“Being tall does have its downsides. I mean, sometimes women are into you just for your height.”

According to ScreenRant, at San Diego Comic Con 2025, showrunner David X. Cohen confirmed that Wembanyama will cameo in the Futurama season 13 premiere.

It is not surprising that he took part in a sci-fi animated show. He is a nerd at heart, and judging by his debut, Wemby might have a future in animated voice-overs.

The Spurs have been featured in many animated shows. In a Simpsons episode, the team was projected to win an NBA title in the 90s, and Lola Bunny has professed her love for Spurs great Manu Ginobili.
