Team France includes Victor Wembanyama in its 58-man preliminary roster for EuroBasket 2025 through the 2028 Olympics.
SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Spurs‘ Victor Wembanyama and a host of notable French players have been named to Team France’s 58-man preliminary roster.
This roster covers the upcoming EuroBasket 2025 tournament to the 2028 Olympics, led by head coach Frederic Fauthoux.
“The Team France Basket project has proven itself for eight years now and is an illustration of the significant talent pool in French basketball. My technical staff and I have had extensive discussions to update Team France Basket, and the many uncertainties surrounding international calendars make it necessary to create a broad group that will, I am certain, evolve in the coming weeks,” Fauthoux said in a release. “French basketball is aware that it will frequently have to do without its NBA and EuroLeague players, and the performance, involvement, and talent of the players who play in other leagues around the world are essential to the success of Les Bleus.”
Joining Wemby on the roster are former Spur Sidy Cissoko, Wizards’ Bilal Coulibaly, Hawks’ Zaccharie Risacher, Wizards’ Alex Sarr, and NBA hopeful Maxime Raynaud.
The Spurs center is still uncertain to play for Team France this summer at EuroBasket 2025 after recovering from blood clot issues that cut short his 2024-25 season.
FREE AGENT FORWARD LARAVIA NAMES SPURS AS A DESTINATION TEAM
Kings’ free agent Jake LaRavia is weighing his options as he heads into free agency this offseason and named the Spurs as a possible next stop.
“Aside from Sacramento, LaRavia mentioned Orlando, Detroit, San Antonio, and Denver as possible teams he would want to play for,” Basketball Insiders reported.
Considering the Spurs’ need for perimeter shooting, especially from the three-point line, LaRavia would certainly fill San Antonio’s need.
“I’m 6’8, I have a good IQ of the game, I can pass the ball, I can attack, I can shoot, I can cut,” LaRavia said. “That versatile taller wing position fits perfectly into that offense…I was making the right plays, and that’s what he liked.”
The unrestricted free agent connected on 43% of his three-point attempts in a season split between Memphis and Sacramento last season.
The 6-7 LaRavia averaged 6.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists per game in 19 minutes per game in Sacramento and owned one of the NBA’s best defensive 3-point percentages among bench players.
