Wembanyama hosts the ‘Hoops Gambit’ chess-basketball tournament in France; Spurs 2025-26 jersey lineup leaked

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Spurs‘ Victor Wembanyama hosted the “Hoops Gambit” in his home city of Le Chesnay, France, which featured a day of chess and a basketball tournament for fans of all ages.

And from the look of the videos and photos from the event, it was a huge success, with Wemby’s teammate Jeremy Sochan in attendance, as well as fellow Frenchman Rudy Gobert, who faced the Spurs center on the chessboard.

The tournament aims to combine the mental and physical aspects of participants in the games of chess and basketball. 

Wemby is a big fan of chess and even had an impromptu chess meetup in New York City. His “Hoops Gambit” tournament is likely to become an annual event, given its success.

LEAKED SPURS 2025-26 JERSEY LINEUP

Neither the Spurs nor the NBA has officially announced the new team jersey lineup for the 2025-26 season; however, the latest San Antonio uniforms seem to have been leaked.

NBA jersey tracker Casey Vitelli released an image of the upcoming Spurs jerseys, which include the return of the Fiesta-themed jerseys, the standard Icon and Association jerseys, and a new jersey featuring an all-grey colorway with “San Antonio” across the chest.
