This Wemby jersey has a starting bid of $10,000.
SAN ANTONIO — Following the San Antonio Spurs Dec. 27th win over the Nets, a little Spurs fan was eager to exchange jerseys with Victor Wembanyama. He even held a sign asking Wemby to swap jerseys with him.
Wemby was kind enough to join the young fan and snap photos of the cute moment.
However, the young Silver and Black fan decided not to save it and keep it safe. Instead, he is letting Goldin Auction House sell it to the highest bidder.
That same jersey is up for auction, starting at $10,000.
“Wembanyama, who has swiftly developed a reputation as a man of the people due to positive interactions with fans, immediately stripped this offered San Antonio Spurs City Edition basketball jersey from his back and exchanged it with the young fan, with the two even standing side by side for a quick photo op,” posted Goldin.
If all goes well, the young Spurs fan and his family could receive a substantial financial return on the jersey.
Wemby certainly takes time out to interact with fans, and this jersey moment wasn’t his first.
At a home game this season, one young fan somehow made his way onto the court to chase down Wembanyama, hoping he would get an autograph from the team’s star.
However, River Castillo got a better surprise than an autograph: Wemby’s game-worn jersey.
You can watch Castillo share his Wemby-jersey experience on Locked On Spurs.
And a shout-out to Wembanyama for his kind gesture and for showing how important the fans are to him and the team.
