Wembanyama rises to the top in NBA MVP projections; Spurs Election Night Watch Party announced

San Antonio Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama is in the early mix for NBA MVP.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama is off to an incredible start to the 2025-26 season.

Not only did he lead the team to a perfect start, but he was also named the West Conference Player of the Week, averaging 33.3 points, 13.3 rebounds, 6 blocks, 2.3 assists, and 1.67 steals in 33.3 minutes while shooting 56.9% from the field.

Wembanyama posted a Spurs franchise record for most points in a season opener with his 40-piece against the Mavericks; he also grabbed 15 boards and shot 71.4% in that 125-92 rout over Dallas on Oct. 22. He became just the sixth player in NBA history to record such a stat line in any regular season game.

So, it is not surprising that he currently leads the pack for the NBA MVP.

According to PolyMarket, Wemby has the highest probability to take home the award at 29%.

The NBA season is still very young, and so much can happen before an MVP is crowned.

However, if the Spurs finish with an outstanding record and Wemby maintains his high level of play, would anyone be shocked if he won the award?
