France moves to 2-0 in pool play.
SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Spurs‘ Victor Wembanyama and Team France survived a thrilling overtime win versus Team Japan in pool play, 94-90.
Wemby, who showed up when it mattered down the stretch of the game, scored 18 points and logged 11 rebounds, six assists, two steals, and two blocks to help Freamce remain undefeated at 2-0.
With the win, France qualifies for the quarter-finals and will face Team Germany next.
Aside from the win, Wemby also made Olympic history by combining for 15-plus points, 10-plus rebounds, and 5-plus assists in a game.
SIZE DISCREPANCY
During the match against Japan, 7’4′ Wemby was being guarded by 5’4″ Japanese guard Yuki Togashi.
