A California-based restaurant tops USA TODAY 10Best’s 2025 fast food burger list, dethroning others.
TEXAS, USA — Move over, Whataburger. There’s (according to a new report) a better tasting burger in town!
This year, a California-based restaurant claimed the top spot (again) in USA TODAY 10Best’s list of the best fast food burgers for 2025.
The Double Meat Whataburger sizzled down to 10th place — down from 6th place last year…what-a-slide.
USA TODAY 10Best editors and a panel of burger lovers teamed up to find the tastiest picks on the menu. Then, readers stepped in to vote for the best of the best.
So, who smashed the top of the list?
- Double Char from Habit Burger & Grill (They took first place in 2024)
- Papa Burger from A&W
- Jumbo Jack Cheeseburger from Jack in the Box
- Double-Double from In-N-Out Burger
- ButterBurger Cheese, Double from Culver’s
- Cheeseburger from Five Guys
- ShackBurger from Shake Shack
- Freddy’s Original Double from Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers
- Whopper from Burger King
- Double Meat Whataburger from Whataburger
The west coast may be winning in flavor votes, but in Texas, loyalty is flame-grilled.
While Whataburger went down on the list this year, don’t expect die-hard Texans to trade in their Double Meat Whataburger anytime soon. Because when it comes to burgers, taste matters, but tradition runs deep.
