What are the Spurs’ odds of selecting hyped prospect Cooper Flagg in the NBA Draft?

One oddsmaker has San Antonio in the top 10 NBA teams most likely to take the Duke guard in the 2025 NBA Draft.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs have been racking up more losses than wins lately, and while that might sting in the short term, it might benefit their 2025 NBA Draft Lottery odds come this summer.

In fact, one oddsmaker projects that San Antonio will have the eighth-best odds at having the opportunity to select the projected No. 1 pick at the NBA Draft: Duke freshman Cooper Flagg.

BetOnline says the Spurs’ chances of selecting Flagg sit at +900. This puts the team in the top 10, with the Washington Wizards having the best odds at +500.

The Spurs’ and Wizards’ margins aren’t too wide, so the Silver & Black have a good shot at winning the draft lottery—setting up the potential of teaming a headlining college player with Victor Wembanyama, De’Aaron Fox and company in San Antonio.

Add in the Hawks’ unprotected picks from the Dejounte Murray trade, and the Spurs could be in a solid position to win the lottery or draft Flagg if he slides down the board.

The prospect of adding Flagg to the team is intriguing. Mock drafts describe him as a “generational” player who can play multiple positions and dominate both ends of the floor.

His offense is developing at Duke, and he’s a solid defender with immense upside. At 18 years old, he is listed at 6-foot-9 and 205 pounds. He will likely be a combo forward in the NBA and is physically ready for the league.

Stranger things have happened at the NBA Draft Lottery. Could the basketball gods smile on the Spurs again?
