Chloe Kim, a two-time gold medalist, suffered a shoulder injury ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics. Here’s the latest.
WASHINGTON — Two-time gold medal snowboarder Chloe Kim is one of more than 230 athletes representing Team USA in the 2026 Winter Olympics. Before the Games, she injured her shoulder but now says she’s “good to go.”
Kim has been wearing a shoulder brace and training her shoulder after injuring it while training in Switzerland.
“I took the silliest fall and that ultimately resulted in me dislocating my shoulder,” she said in a Jan. 8 Instagram post.
In an update posted Jan. 27, Kim said she is rehabbing her shoulder “to get it as strong as possible.” She shared a vlog-like video showing herself exercising and getting a facial at home in Los Angeles, California.
How did Chloe Kim injure her shoulder?
Kim posted an update to Instagram Jan. 13 to say she had torn her labrum — the lining of the socket that holds the shoulder together — but wasn’t surprised by the news. She did not say which shoulder she injured when she fell.
“There are two ways to do it, and the way I did it is less severe than the other, so I’m really happy about that,” she said. “Obviously, I’m really disappointed that I can’t snowboard until right before the Olympics, which is going to be hard. I haven’t gotten nearly the amount of reps that I would have liked, but that’s OK.”
She posted a video clip of the fall, which showed her landing an ollie, then snowboarding across a slope. While heading to the other side of the slope, her board gets uneven and she crashed into the wall of snow.
When is Chloe Kim snowboarding in the Olympics?
Kim is in the women’s Olympic halfpipe contest, which starts Feb. 11.
The 25-year-old is the heavy favorite to win in Italy if she’s healthy.
