19 years after a San Antonio teen went missing, her family is still searching for answers. Her sister sat with KENS 5 to revisit the case.
SAN ANTONIO — There is not a day that goes by that Lisa Apreciado doesn’t think of her sister Jennifer. This Sunday will mark 19 years since she vanished. At the time, in 2006, Jennifer was 17 years old.
“It is hard. It is heartbreaking,” Lisa said. “I know it has been so many years, but I know God will make a way.”
According to San Antonio police, Jennifer was last seen near Wall Street and South General McMullen Drive in 2006. Lisa said during that time her sister was living with her boyfriend.
“There were quite a few stories, that she was being followed at the bus stop by some guy,” Lisa recalled. “She called her boyfriend, but after that, I don’t know what happened.”
With so many unanswered questions, Lisa said the years have been filled with frustration and pain.
“It hurts still to not know where she is,” she said. “A part of me says she is alive, and a part of me says she isn’t. I just want answers. I just really want to know what happened to her.”
SAPD confirmed to KENS 5 Jennifer’s case remains an active missing person investigation, though there have been no new updates.
“I know somebody knows something and they are just hiding it,” Lisa said.
She hopes investigators will revisit conversations with people who were around her sister before she disappeared. Until then, Lisa continues to hold on to hope and shares a message for others.
“Check on your loved ones,” she said. “If they are lost, extend your hand out to them because they need more help than we do. Just love them. You never know, one day we are here, and one day we are not.”
Police did not confirm whether anyone has ever been questioned in Jennifer’s disappearance, citing the ongoing investigation.
Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact the San Antonio Police Department.
