What Olympic records were broken at the 2026 Milan Cortina Games?

Nine Olympic records were set in speed skating and short track at the 2026 Winter Olympics, with Dutch skaters and Team USA’s Jordan Stolz leading the surge.

WASHINGTON — As the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina draw to a close, the Games delivered no shortage of historic performances.

Nine Olympic records were broken — all on Milan’s ice tracks — across speed skating and short track speed skating. Seven came in for long-track speed skating, with two more in short-track.

Four of the nine Olympic records were set by Dutch athletes, highlighting the nation’s strength in speed skating. Both Jordan Stolz of the United States and Xandra Velzeboer of the Netherlands set two Olympic records each during the Games.

Here’s every Olympic record set at the 2026 Milan Cortina Games:

Women’s 3000m – Francesca Lollobrigida (Italy) – 3:54.28

Lollobrigida opened the Games in style, setting an Olympic record of 3:54.28 on Feb. 7 (Day 1) to claim the first Olympic gold of her career in front of a home crowd.

Men’s 5000m – Sander Eitrem (Norway) – 6:03.95

Eitrem set a new Olympic mark of 6:03.95 on Feb. 8 (Day 2), delivering Norway one of the early standout performances of the Games.

Women’s 1000m – Jutta Leerdam (Netherlands) – 1:12.31

Leerdam clocked 1:12.31 on Feb. 9 (Day 3), adding to a strong showing for the Netherlands in speed skating.

Mixed Team Relay (Short Track) – Netherlands – 2:35.537

The Dutch quartet of Selma Poutsma, Xandra Velzeboer, Teun Boer and Jens van ’t Wout set a new Olympic record of 2:35.537 on Feb. 10 (Day 4) in short track speed skating.

Men’s 1000m – Jordan Stolz (USA) – 1:06.28

Stolz delivered one of two Olympic records at the Games, skating 1:06.28 on Feb. 11 (Day 5) to set a new mark for Team USA.

Women’s 500m (Short Track) – Xandra Velzeboer (Netherlands) – 41.399

Velzeboer posted an Olympic record time of 41.399 on Feb. 12 (Day 6) en route to gold. She also set a world record during her run.

Men’s 500m – Jordan Stolz (USA) – 33.77

Stolz struck again on Feb. 14 (Day 8), breaking the Olympic record in the men’s 500m with a time of 33.77.

Women’s 500m – Femke Kok (Netherlands) – 36.49

Kok set a new Olympic mark of 36.49 on Feb. 15 (Day 10), continuing the Netherlands’ dominance on the ice.

Men’s 1500m – Ning Zhongyan (China) – 1:41.98

Ning capped the record-breaking performances on Feb. 19 (Day 13), skating 1:41.98 to set a new Olympic record in the men’s 1500m.
