You’ll be able to scan a QR code and see what the Alamo looked like in 1756, all the way to the early 1900s.
SAN ANTONIO — Visitors coming to the Alamo Friday are now able to experience what life was like in the past with the help of new technology.
It’s part of a new immersive digital reality they created where you can see different historical eras of the Alamo right from where you’re standing.
All on a tablet.
At the Alamo Long Barrack building, you’ll be able to scan a QR code with the tablet and see what the Alamo looked like in 1756 all the way to the early 1900s.
You can interact with people and objects on the screen. It even has a scavenger hunt mode among other unique activities.
The Alamo partnered with Histovery, based in Paris, to put this together in eight months.
Histovery’s head of production, Ed Russan, says this is their first permanent exhibition done in the U.S. and wants to make learning enjoyable.
“Younger generations are maybe less interested in history,” Russan said. “But with this kind of experience, people, especially the young, will be drawn more easily into the past and become more interested in history.”
Alamo staff say the average experience can last between 30-40 minutes. If you really want to take your time, it can take at least an hour.
For anyone interested in checking out this new activity, it costs $10 per person. Guests already taking a guided tour at the Alamo can pay an extra $5.
