What you need to know if you’re headed downtown to Final Four festivities

Both the City of San Antonio and the NCAA want to remind you of these important things.

SAN ANTONIO — With basketball fans from every corner already showing up in the Alamo City, there’s important reminders the city and the NCAA want to remind you whether you head to the games or just want to check out the festivals.

Everyone needs to pack their patience and prepare in advance because there’s a ton of stuff happening this weekend.

We have the Final Four Fan Fest, the Final Four Tip-Off Tailgate, a music festival, River Rally and more.

Luckily we will have some downtown streets open, so that will be nice, but keep in mind, people all over the world are gonna be here, so expect traffic.

Starting Wednesday afternoon until Monday parts of Nueva, Montana, and the I-37 freeway exits to E. Commerce are going to be closed.

There’s also going to be no public parking Saturday and Monday.

What you can do to get around is hop on the VIA and grab the shuttle, rideshare, or book an Uber. With the reduction of cars downtown, it will be a heavily foot-trafficked event.

For security, San Antonio agencies have been working for more than a year to make sure everyone one is safe walking throughout the area.

“We’ve taken steps again to fill any gaps where vehicles may be able to enter an area where there’s people at an event and hopefully we’ll have the same success this time around with NCAA,” said Chief McManus, SAD Police Chief.

Clear bag policies will be in place at every event this weekend. If you need to buy a ticket, be sure to get it from the source or an official resale website.

To avoid a scam, always look for a refund policy, and take an extra look at resell accounts and notifications.
