What’s missing in Boerne? Locals say roller skating,Trader Joes and more

During the summer, a few Facebook posts asking locals what new businesses they would like to see in Boerne went locally viral. MySA chimed in with a question of its own, asking what restaurants, stores and conveniences they would like to see.

Here are some of the responses:

Among the surprising asks were a roller skating rink, a water park, miniature golf, splash pads, and dance halls. It’s not the first time Boerne residents have suggested a roller skating rink.  In similar social posts last year, residents said it would be “SO FUN!!” to have a nostalgic rink.

Clayton Reaser, a Boerne businessman, sparked one of the social media discussions.

“[That was] the overwhelming and surprising response,” he told MySA about his post, referring to the skating rink.

Some asked for ramen bars, Mediterranean cuisine, and German restaurants, while many got specific with chains like Chick-fil-A, HTeaO, Twin Peaks, Cracker Barrel and Snooze A.M. Eatery.

Most commenters agreed on one thing: they want the city’s growth to stay rooted in small, locally owned businesses rather than chain store and high-density developments.

“Keep it predominantly small business owned. Keep corporate businesses outside of the Boerne,” Boerne local Barbara Tolentino Reyes said in the post.
