WASHINGTON — The figure skating competition is one of Team USA’s most anticipated performances as they seek to defend their team title.
The powerful U.S. figure skating squad will have its first opportunity to shine at the Winter Olympics on Friday when the team competition begins at the Milano Ice Skating Arena just hours before the Opening Ceremony.
The Americans are the defending champions in the team event. After they were denied a medal ceremony four years ago in Beijing because of a lengthy investigation into Russian doping, which kept them from receiving their gold medals until the 2024 Summer Games in Paris, it would be especially meaningful to win another team title at the Milan Cortina Games.
Winter Olympics figure skating: Who is on Team USA?
The team features Alysa Liu, Isabeau Levito and Amber Glenn in women’s singles; Ilia Malinin, Maxim Naumov and Andrew Torgashev in men’s singles; pairs teams Ellie Kam and Danny O’Shea, and Emily Chan and Spencer Howe; and ice dance teams Madison Chock and Evan Bates, Emilea Zingas and Vadym Kolesnik, and Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko.
