‘When I saw the video, I threw up’ | Houston mom wants justice after daughter attacked while walking home from school

Video posted on social media shows the 13-year-old middle schooler getting punched and kicked by multiple teens in what her mom calls an unprovoked attack.

HOUSTON — Video shot by an anonymous bystander on Wednesday and posted to social media was shared with KHOU 11 by a very concerned mother who said it made her physically sick.

“When I saw the video, I threw up,” Angela Dixon said. “I fell to the floor, I threw up.”

Dixon’s 13-year-old daughter, who we’re not identifying, is seen in the video getting punched and kicked repeatedly. As the attack spilled into the street, the victim fell to the ground as school buses and other vehicles passed by.

“Not only did they attack her once, they followed her twice,” Dixon told KHOU 11. “She did not fight back. She was trying to come home.”

Dixon said her daughter was walking home from nearby Plummer Middle School in Aldine ISD, where Dixon met with administrators on Thursday morning.

She believes some of the teens involved also attend Davis High School and has no idea why her daughter may have been targeted. She said the unprovoked attack resulted in an hours-long hospital visit.

“She got bald spots on the side of her head from where they snatched her hair out,” Dixon said. “She got bruises on her stomach.”

Houston Police confirmed that an assault report was taken and that investigators had seen the video.

Meanwhile, Dixon would like to see both criminal charges and any appropriate discipline by Aldine ISD, even though the incident happened off campus.

“I wouldn’t allow my child to do that to nobody,” Dixon told us. “And if she would’ve done that, I would want her to get justice; she would get in trouble, too. And it starts from home with the parents; the parents need to speak to their children. It’s not OK.”

Aldine ISD sent this statement about the incident:

“Aldine ISD was made aware of an alleged assault involving a Plummer Middle School student. The incident reportedly took place off campus while the student was walking home and is believed to have involved other students. Upon learning of the incident, district administrators took immediate action to investigate the situation. The Aldine ISD Police Department was notified and they are assisting with the law enforcement agency to which the incident was reported, as the investigation remains ongoing. Please know that Aldine ISD takes these situations very seriously. The safety and well-being of our students is always our top priority.”
