The Milan Cortina Games have wrapped, but fans won’t have to wait too long for a Winter Olympics on American soil.
The Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics have come to a close, and Team USA is taking 33 medals home.
Some fans may be wondering if the Games will be returning to the U.S. anytime soon.
When do the Winter Olympics return to the U.S.?
While the next Winter Olympics will be held in the French Alps in 2030, the Games will return to the United States in 2034.
The 2034 Winter Olympics are scheduled for Feb. 10 through Feb. 26 in Utah, with Salt Lake City serving as the host city.
“From our capital of Salt Lake City out to every corner of our state, the Utah 2034 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games should be shared by all Utahns,” Fraser Bullock, president and executive chair of the organizing committee said. “We are all Utahns together. Faster, Higher, Stronger – Together.”
Utah 2034 will rely heavily on venues from when the city hosted the 2002 Winter Games, with 10 of the 13 competition sites being reused. All venues will be existing or temporary facilities and located within 60 minutes of the Olympic Village.
Events will take place in Salt Lake City, Park City, Soldier Hollow, Snowbasin and Provo.
The Summer Olympics are returning to the U.S. even sooner
If you can’t wait until 2034, the Summer Olympics will also take place in the United States in 2028.
The 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles are scheduled to run from July 14 through July 30, 2028.
Officially known as the Games of the XXXIV Olympiad, the Los Angeles Olympics will mark the city’s third time hosting the Games, following previous editions in 1932 and 1984.
With more than 40 sports, roughly 800 events, and an expected 15,000 athletes, the 2028 Olympic Games will use a mix of iconic venues across Southern California, including SoFi Stadium, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and the Rose Bowl. Select events will be hosted outside the state.
