When’s the next time San Antonio could get to 100 degrees

Break out the paletas: Here are the hottest days of the year in the Alamo City so far.

SAN ANTONIO — It isn’t just you: This month has been a relatively mild one in San Antonio, with afternoon highs straying right up to the edge of triple-digits without quite getting there. The average daily high of 92.8 degrees is lower than the historical July average of 94.5.

Then Thursday came, and our streak of 100-degree-less summer came to an end when the Alamo City reached triple-digits for the first time all summer.

It wasn’t the hottest day of the year thus far, though; that dubious honor still belongs to May 13, when the mercury reached 103, per data from the National Weather Service.

Here are the hottest days of 2025 so far:

  1. May 13: 103 degrees
  2. May 14: 102 degrees
  3. May 20: 100 degrees
  4. July 24: 100 degrees
  5. Six days so far: 99 degrees

Historically, San Antonio doesn’t reach 100 degrees for the first time until late June, so that May heat wave was an outlier. But it’s been four years since we went this late into the summer without reaching triple-digits; in 2021, the Alamo City was blessed not to have to endure 100 degrees until Sept. 6—the latest date we’ve ever hit 100, according to the NWS.

Looking ahead

More upper-90s weather is expected through the weekend, the NWS says, but we’re not expected to hit 100 again until next Thursday. Here’s a look at what awaits in the Alamo City.

Friday night: Overnight low of 76 degrees. Mostly cloudy conditions overhead, with southeasterly wind gusts reaching 10 mph.

Saturday: Low 76, high 92. There’s a slight chance of showers late in the morning, as well as after 1 p.m. Otherwise, expect partly sunny skies with wind gusts reaching 20 mph. Rain chances: 40%.

Sunday: Low 77, high 96. Slightly warmer afternoon highs and another chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Wind gusts as high as 20 mph.

Monday: Low 76, high 96. Partly sunny skies with calm southeasterly winds.

Tuesday: Low 74, high 97. Calm winds of around 5 mph, mostly sunny skies.
