A San Antonio institution is outshining the rest in a new report of the top universities in America. With more than 140 years of history, the local school is adding yet another accolade to its growing list.
With a total score of 74 out of 433, UIW came out on top over its Lone Star State neighbors, such as the University of Texas at Dallas (No. 95 in Social Mobility) and Houston’s private Rice University (No. 98 in Social Mobility).
Managed by the Carnegie Foundation and the American Council on Education, it “examines the extent to which institutions foster opportunities for student success by measuring whether institutions are enrolling students reflective of the communities they serve and how the earnings of those students compare to peers in their area,” a UIW news release states.
“Carnegie’s methodology calculated that UIW has the highest access ratio and earnings ratio among Baccalaureate and Above institutions in San Antonio,” the release said.
Alongside this honor, the San Antonio location also ranked the sixth-best private college in Texas, with its final score of 293 out of 436 nationally. Abilene Christian University and Dallas Baptist University followed behind.
“These two latest acknowledgements demonstrate the dedication and success that UIW has in delivering a transformative Catholic education that allows students to succeed and to lead lives of purpose,” a UIW spokesperson told MySA.
Those looking to pursue a career in nursing may not need to go far. The report also named the school the fourth-best private institution in Texas (No. 340 nationally), and noted that it is the most popular major students select. Finally, it also boasts a 98% acceptance rate and a 37% four-year graduation rate.
