SAN ANTONIO — As we learn more about the tragic incident Wednesday night in which seven officers were shot, we are digging deeper to find out more about the man accused in the shooting.
The suspect, now identified as Brandon Poulos, 46, barricaded himself inside an apartment at the Sonterra Heights on Stone Oak Boulevard. Officers were responding to a possible suicide attempt call. When officers arrived, a woman came out of the apartment and said Poulos was shooting inside.
That’s when a shot hit the first officer in the leg. McManus said six other officers were also shot, but all are expected to make a full recovery.
Poulous was found dead by a SWAT team after several hours of negotiation. it is unclear if he shot himself or if he was shot by law enforcement.
Who is Brandon Poulos?
Court records show this incident got started a few days ago in a neighborhood off Nacogdoches Road and Loop 1604. Court records indicate police were called there Saturday evening for a domestic dispute. They ended up arresting Poulos for three charges of domestic violence after three different people were assaulted.
They were able to arrest him a short distance away from the home because he carshed his vehicle. When officers found him at the crash site, he was arrested.
Court records show his bonds for all four charges relating to that incident total $35,000. Court records also indicate he was able to get out of jail the very next day.
