ARLINGTON, Texas — Rangers fans attending Opening Day may notice a piece of history missing from the ballpark (kind of).
The banner commemorating the 2023 World Series title is no longer hanging in right field, which was unveiled at Opening Day last season. Globe Life Field played Queen’s “We are the champions” as the white banner with red lettering was dropped.
WFAA’s Mike Leslie noticed the banner no longer hanging from the rafters and asked the team why.
“The banner for the 2023 World Series that was hung above right field was never intended to be permanent. It has been taken down. The permanent representation of the 2023 Championship is the white placard above left field, that sits next to all the other postseason accomplishments of season’s past,” Leslie posted on X.
Rangers legend Michael Young told WFAA the club is focused on living in the present and achieving goals in front of them.
“That World Series will never go away,” Young said. “It’s a huge part of what they did for this area and the organization, but I think their minds are firmly on 2025 right now.”
The Rangers open the 2025 season against the Boston Red Sox.
