The community is now rallying around Adrianne Bailey after theft and vandalism of “dream” food trailer.
HOUSTON, Texas — Nearly a year after its debut, retired educator Adrianne Bailey’s “TexLaMex” food trailer is temporarily closed.
“Everything I had went into this, everything,” said Bailey. “Why would somebody do me like this?”
The three-time cancer survivor’s latest battle is thanks to thieves who swiped the trailer last weekend from the Sunnyside area parking lot of a friend’s business. His gate was also broken. And while the damaged trailer was later recovered abandoned behind a school, the uninsured interior was trashed.
“They took my refrigerator, air conditioner, freezer, prep table, all my pots and pans,” said Bailey.
Crooks also released a grease valve leaving the trailer a smelly, sticky mess.
“I just hate this happened to me because this is my dream,” said Bailey. “I don’t know about other people, I know this hurt me to my core.” “Because this is all I have, it’s all I have.”
Sadly, there’s no surveillance video of the crime, but cameras are something Bailey plans to install thanks to a GoFundMe page organized by her daughter where messages of encouragement and money are adding up.
“It has been amazing because I can’t believe that people I don’t know would give to me, bless me like this,” said Bailey. “But they have in so many ways.”
Her biggest thank you will come when the kitchen is up and running again. Meanwhile, she only had one dish in mind for those behind the theft.
“I’m not going to be harsh about it, but I am going to say ‘karma is something,'” said Bailey.
