Will July Fourth stay rain-free for fireworks in SA?

Will you need an umbrella for holiday festivities on Friday? Here’s what to know.

SAN ANTONIO — The bad news: The early-morning hours of July Fourth could bring heavy rain to the San Antonio region.

The good news: The storms should clear out by the evening, when families head to Woodlawn Lake Park and other outdoor areas for fireworks

It’ll be humid in the Alamo City for much of the holiday, but temperatures should stay well under triple-digits for your cookouts, family get-togethers and impromptu sparkler photoshoots. The afternoon high will reach 92 degrees around 6 p.m., by which points the chance for isolated showers will have gone. Be prepared for potentially gusty winds reaching 10 to 20 mph throughout the afternoon.

By 9 p.m., when fireworks and drones are set to cap the city’s official July Fourth celebration over Woodlawn Lake, temperatures will be in the mid-to-high-80s under clear skies and calming winds. Make sure to send us your July Fourth cookout and fireworks photos through the KENS 5 app!

Remember: Setting off fireworks is illegal within City of San Antonio limits and could land you a fine. Here’s what to remember about setting them off in unincorporated areas of Bexar County.

Looking ahead to the rest of the holiday weekend, Saturday and Sunday will both bring a chance of thunderstorms and highs in the low-to-mid-90s.
