Read on for our day-by-day breakdown of what the South Texas region will see over the holiday weekend.
SAN ANTONIO — Another holiday weekend is upon us as South Texas begins counting down the days to the start of fall and cooler temperatures. What can we expect for those with outdoor plans on Labor Day?
Much has been made of the weak cold front that will push through Texas on Friday afternoon. It will spark off scattered rain and a few thunderstorms across Central Texas. That rain coverage will gradually push south into the San Antonio area, keeping an active pattern of scattered showers and isolated storms in place through Labor Day.
While coverage of the rain won’t be widespread, isolated storms could be strong and produce heavy rainfall rates along with localized ponding and flooding. Forecast rain amounts are ranging from one-tenth to one-quarter of an inch, on average, in our region.
Higher rainfall totals are more likely north of Highway 90, especially heading into the Hill Country.

This frontal boundary will also usher in some slightly cooler air for the start of September. Instead of the upper-90s and above-average heat, San Antonio will get some relief with afternoon highs trending into the low-90s early next week. Rocksprings, Llano, Fredericksburg and Kerrville can expect to see morning lows in the 60s all through the weekend and start of next week.
