The color-coded shirts got national attention when San Antonio took the court for its first playoff action since 2019.
SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs leaned into the party vibes when they officially ended their seven-year playoff drought last month, turning Frost Bank Center into a shimmering Fiesta-themed ocean as fans donned one of three color-coded shirts waiting for them at their seat.
The giveaway design – featured bright pink, orange and blue shirts – got national attention, with many noting how it was an especially appropriate way to make San Antonio’s return to playoffs action.
Good news for fans who appreciated the design: It will be making a comeback in Monday’s Game 1 of the second round, which will see the Spurs doing battle with the Timberwolves for the first time in the postseason in 25 years.
The design will be a little different, however, with the first round’s “Go Spurs Go” motif featuring the team’s logo replaced by “Spurs Basketball,” outlined with the familiar elements of the team’s Fiesta edition jerseys.
Tipoff times and broadcast details haven’t been officially announced, but the Spurs-Timberwolves series gets underway Monday at Frost Bank Center. It’s another best-of-seven series with the first two games in San Antonio before shifting to Minnesota for two games, and then alternating the final three games of the series if it’s extended.
The team is getting fans ready with another Hemisfair pep rally, new merchandise at the downtown pop-up shop and watch parties at The Rock at La Cantera.
