When freezing temperatures hit Texas, residents (understandably) freak out after experiencing traumatic winters of rolling blackouts, like Winter Storm Uri in 2021. This season, Texans can’t help but share hilarious, relatable memes as they prepare for the arctic blast.
The strong cold front hit Central Texas Sunday evening, bringing freezing temperatures across the state until Friday, January 10. The National Weather Service predicts a “moderate to high confidence for precipitation” from Wednesday afternoon through Friday in Central Texas. It’s unclear what type of precipitation will head to Central Texas, however, North Texas could see up to four inches of snow.
As the front trickles in, Texans are heading to social media to share their thoughts on the weather. On X, Jennifer shared a funny meme showing a huge “CLOSED” sign on the state of Texas as it reached 33 degrees. Selena said, “So are we supposed to just get up for work in 31° weather ?!?”
“About to be so cold in Texas that Ted Cruz has probably already left for Cancun,” Evil MoPac tweeted, shading the Texas Senator as he was seen leaving the state during the winter disaster in 2021.
On Reddit, user Practical-Bank-6905 posted a photo showing the Friday weather predictions of 39 degrees with a chance of snow. The user wrote, “Ohh nahh.” In the comments, many Texans agreed with the user’s caption. Excited_Onion wrote, “I f**cking hate winter. 2021 ruined it for me forever.”
Another Reddit post poked fun at Texans overbuying groceries at the sight of a snowflake. Simpleme_hunt wrote, “I went to Costco today…And HEB…no snowflakes and people were acting like the storm of the century was coming.”
“It’s cold not the end of the world Texans we will get through this cold front. Just stay safe and warm. And pray the grid doesn’t shut down,” WearHot3394 wrote.
