With a single Wednesday night, Jose Altuve rewrote the Astros history books

With the single, Altuve passed Jeff Bagwell for the second most hits in Astros franchise history.

DENVER — Jose Altuve has made a career of rewriting the Astros’ history books. He added another chapter Wednesday night.

With his two-out, two-run single in the top of the sixth inning against Colorado, Altuve passed Jeff Bagwell on the all-time hit list in Astros franchise history.

The single was Altuve’s 2,315th hit as an Astro, passing Hall-of-Famer Jeff Bagwell.

The all-time hits leader in franchise history is Craig Biggio, another Hall-of-Famer, who has 3,060 career base hits.

Biggio and Bagwell played their entire careers in Houston. Altuve has only played for the Astros, as well.

This is Altuve’s 15th season in the Majors. Biggio played for 20 seasons. Bagwell played in 15.
