Woman arrested, charged with fatally shooting sister in Kerr County

The woman’s sister was found with a single gunshot to the chest and died at the hospital.

SAN ANTONIO — A woman is accused of shooting her sister at a home in Kerrville early Tuesday morning.

The Kerr County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call at 4:22 a.m. Tuesday for a shooting in the 100 block of Hilltop Drive in Kerrville.

Deputies found Christy Burns, 61, with a gunshot wound to the chest. She was transported to Peterson Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

The victim’s sister, Carrie Burns, 63, was arrested on a murder charge and was booked into the Kerr County Jail.

The sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the shooting.
