Woman believed to be homeless dies from possible heat-related illness during hottest stretch of year, police say

Police said a 46-year-old woman was found unresponsive on the sidewalk.

SAN ANTONIO — A woman, believed to be homeless, was found dead from a heat-related illness on the north side Thursday afternoon, according to San Antonio police.

Officers received a call on the 100 block of East Fredericksburg Road near a gas station around 3:00 p.m.

Police said a 46-year-old woman was found unresponsive on the sidewalk. Paramedics were called to the scene and performed life-saving measures but were unsuccessful and declared the woman dead.

Authorities said there were no obvious signs of foul play and believe the woman died from natural causes resulting from a heat-related illness.

Police said the woman appeared to be homeless.

The death comes days after non-profits announced they were working to help the homeless community as scorching temperatures continued to pummel San Antonio.
