Woman bitten on leg after encounter with loose dogs on the northwest side, officials say

Animal Services contacted the owner of the dogs and they were issued criminal citations for failing to secure their pets.

SAN ANTONIO — A woman was bitten after encountering several dogs during a walk on the southwest side, police say.

Authorities say the 44-year-old woman was walking on West Southcross Boulevard at about 4 p.m. Wednesday.

When she got to the intersection at Priscilla Street, an unknown number of loose dogs came out of a nearby home’s yard.

Officials say one of the dogs bit her on her right leg during the encounter.

Several authorities arrived at the scene later on, and the dogs attacked both an Animal Services vehicle and an SAPD patrol vehicle.

Animal Services contacted the owner of the dogs and they were issued criminal citations for failing to secure their pets. Other violations include the bite itself and no proof of rabies, vaccinations or microchips.

Several dogs have been taken to the animal shelter as officers determine which dog bit the woman.

This is an ongoing investigation.
