According to witnesses at the scene, the woman fell off the back of a motorcycle and that rider fled from the scene.
SAN ANTONIO — A late-night motorcycle crash on San Antonio’s northwest side is now under investigation and could potentially result in criminal charges.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, officers responded just after midnight early Thursday morning to the 9400 block of Culebra Road near Grissom Road. A woman was found critically injured after falling from the back of a motorcycle.
Police said the woman was taken to University Hospital in critical condition. Her specific injuries have not been released.
Investigators say there was a motorcycle still at the scene when emergency crews arrived. However, the rider told officers the woman may have actually fallen from another motorcycle that left the area before help arrived.
SAPD confirmed that a witness at the scene reported the woman fell from a different motorcycle, and that rider did not stop to render aid and fled.
Traffic investigators were called out as officers work to determine exactly what happened and whether the case will be treated as a criminal investigation for failure to stop and help.
At this time, police have not provided a description of the motorcycle that reportedly fled or the rider involved.
KENS 5 has reached out to SAPD for additional details and will continue to follow the investigation as updates become available.
