
The security guard, identified as a 57-year-old man, was struck multiple times before officers arrived, according to SAPD.
SAN ANTONIO — A man died after an early-morning assault outside a business on the city’s west side, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
SAPD said officers were dispatched around 5:07 a.m. on Saturday to the 6800 block of Military Drive West for a reported assault in progress.
Before officers arrived, police said they were informed that a security guard was involved in a physical struggle with a woman who had previously been criminally trespassed from the location. The security guard, identified as a 57-year-old man, was struck multiple times before officers arrived, according to SAPD.
Police said officers detained the suspect, a 46-year-old woman, at the scene.
While officers were interviewing the security guard, he collapsed face down onto the pavement, police said. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police said the circumstances surrounding the assault and the man’s death remain under investigation. No additional details were immediately released.
The San Antonio Police Department said the investigation is ongoing and information is subject to change.
