Woman ejected in crash involving suspected drunk driver on Loop 1604, police say

A woman was ejected from a pickup truck after a suspected drunk driver crashed into a work crew vehicle on Loop 1604 early Monday, police said.

SAN ANTONIO — A woman was ejected from a pickup truck early Monday morning after a crash involving a work crew vehicle on the city’s north side, according to San Antonio police.

Officers were called to Loop 1604 westbound near the Northeast Military Drive exit around 1:06 a.m.

Police say a man and woman were traveling in a black pickup truck when the driver crashed into the back of a work crew’s “arrow truck.” The impact caused the pickup to spin, ejecting the female passenger from the vehicle.

Both the driver and the passenger were taken to University Hospital and are listed in stable condition.

Investigators say the driver showed signs of intoxication and could face intoxication assault charges, depending on the extent of the woman’s injuries.

The department’s Traffic Investigations Detail is handling the case. San Antonio police, firefighters and EMS all responded to the scene.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
