Police say the victim was pinned underneath the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
SAN ANTONIO — A woman was hit and killed late last night by a suspect who lost control of their vehicle while fleeing from police on the south side.
It happened around 12:15 a.m. in the 600 block of Pyron Avenue.
According to police, undercover officers were following a suspect and called for an officer in a marked patrol unit to pull them over and that’s when the driver took off. Police were following the suspect using their chopper EAGLE, so the other officers backed off from the pursuit.
The driver continued to try and get away from police by speeding down the street and ultimately lost control of their vehicle and ran over someone in the process.
The driver and their passenger jumped out and ran off. The female victim was pinned underneath the vehicle, police say. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police arrested the driver a few blocks away, but no word on whether the passenger was found.
No details were released by police about why the suspect was being followed in the first place.
This is a developing story.
