
A train struck and killed a woman walking near the tracks in San Antonio, halting the train for several hours.
SAN ANTONIO — A woman was killed after being hit by a train west of downtown San Antonio Tuesday morning, authorities said.
San Antonio Police responded to a collision involving a train and pedestrian on the train tracks near north Colorado Street and I-10.
Authorities said a woman was walking on the side of the train tracks, when a conductor pulled the horn trying to warn the woman. The woman was hit by the train and died at the scene.
According to SAPD, the woman was in her 30s or 40s but has not been identified yet. No other injuries were reported.
Police said the train will be stuck in the same position for the next several hours. There is currently no estimate on when the roadway will be reopened.
Drivers are encouraged to take Culebra Road to avoid the closures.
