SAN ANTONIO — A woman was found dead Monday afternoon inside a home on San Antonio’s northwest side, and police are working to determine what led up to the incident.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, officers were called around 12:56 p.m. to the 1000 block of Donaldson Avenue after a homeowner received a call from a family member reporting that someone had been shot.
When officers arrived, they were able to enter the home with the help of someone who had a key.
Inside, officers found an adult woman with a single gunshot wound to the head. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the woman was the only person inside the home at the time. Investigators have not yet confirmed her age or identity.
At this point, it’s unclear what led up to the shooting. Officers say the scene is being treated as a crime scene as they work to gather more information, including the location of a weapon.
The investigation remains ongoing.
